About Insulation
Insulation is defined as a material or combination of materials, which are primarily used to retard the flow of heat, reduce noise and slow down the spread of fire. Mineral wools are insulation materials that belong to a generic group of materials often called man-made mineral fibres (MMMF). Mineral wool insulation comes in various forms such as blankets, slabs, rigid, loose-fill and sectional pipes.
Where is mineral wool insulation used?
Mineral wool insulation is usually installed in the ceiling, roof, partition or wall cavities of a home or building. In the tropics, approximately 70% of heat usually enters the building through the roof, so the use of insulation on the roof or ceiling is effective in reducing heat ingress to improve indoor comfort. Walls can also be insulated in order to reduce the heat penetrating through the side that face the sun.
Partitions that use mineral wool insulation can help to reduce room to room noise. In houses that have installed home entertainment or multimedia room, mineral wool acts as an excellent sound absorption material, giving the best acoustic fidelity performance without disturbing other occupants.
